The American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA)
While many people may not have considered the beauty of a leaf of kale or a mushroom among the moss, botanical artists present plant life in stunning, artistic detail. Unlike more traditional artistic representations of plant life, botanical artists combine art with botany, horticulture, medicine, and agriculture to present highly detailed and still beautiful depictions of plants and other natural elements.
The American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA) – https://asba-art.org – supports this unique artistic niche and provides a thriving culture for these artists. Like many groups, however, this 2000+ member organization had technical challenges to solve when it came to their web presence and bolstering their membership management and reporting capabilities.
It was important for ASBA to retain their website’s look and feel, as well as features like the member galleries and exhibition galleries for displaying member work. As an arts organization, it was very important for ASBA that galleries be easy to use and navigate, as well as visually appealing. They also required special programming to properly caption the artwork according to botanical art standards. ClubExpress was ready to meet the challenge.

Patricia Luppino, webmaster for ASBA, said she was pleased with the initial process with ClubExpress, as leadership showed a keen interest in what ASBA was looking to achieve with their website. The ClubExpress development team was able to combine the platform with ASBA’s designs and custom programming to their specifications.
Patricia says they are looking forward to getting even more out of the ClubExpress system with more collaboration, interest and discussion groups, events for webinar and symposium support, and chapter management. Their members have also enjoyed creating and maintaining their individual galleries to display their artwork to a worldwide audience.
ASBA launched their Membership Renewal Drive in November, and thanks to the customizable and pre-scheduled renewal reminders from the Club Express system, they are reporting a much larger number of early renewals compared to past years. They are also looking to implement rolling memberships and other features that would not have been possible without the ClubExpress membership management features.
